Progressive Caucus

We, the MEPs participating in the Progressive Caucus in the European Parliament, are calling the future European Commission to prove their positions on 14 points we consider as the most crucial.

 We are calling to give to the citizens the answers they wait for. We are asking for commitments to promote social justice, urgent actions on climate and solidarity.

 We, members of the Progressive Group, are asking for strong guarantees on these 14 points, for a massive policy paradigm shift:

  • Phase out the fossil energy dependence in Europe;
  • Invest in a massive European Fund to train workers and unemployed for ecological shift and promote fair transitions;
  • Guarantee the right to a healthy environment by considering the prohibition of chemicals in agriculture;
  • Improve the social security coordination in Europe and create a fair European labour market;
  • Really ensure the implementation of Paris climate agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals in Europe;
  • Extend the mandate of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office to add environmental crimes;
  • Severely penalize tax dodging and money laundering;
  • Make sure that trade and investment policy aims at spreading highly ambitious social, environmental and Human rights standards in multilateral trade structures
  • Strengthen the protection of European industry and agriculture by introducing fair trade;
  • Strengthen workers’ rights and protect workers from “uberization” and dismantlement of their social rights;
  • Propose a Sustainability Pact to replace the Stability and Growth Pact;
  • Defend a shared European migration and asylum policy based on solidarity and humanity under a duly reformed Dublin system;
  • Promote true gender equality at work and in all aspects of life;
  • Establish an European conference for collective security and peace;

The Progressive Caucus is a MEPs grouping coming from GUE, S&D and Greens. We increase exchanges, links and actions between progressive allies in the European Parliament and across Europe. We are sharing common values as environmentalists, democrats, feminists, internationalists, standing for solidarity against neo-liberalism and austerity.
